Special Education
The Special Education Department for the Stoneham Public Schools serves disabled students from age 3 through age 22.
The district provides a wide spectrum of services for students with disabilities across the districts. These are students who have been identified with a disability and require specially designed instruction/intervention or related service in order to access the general curriculum.
As a PreK-12+ department, the district has made a commitment to:
Provide exceptional services to students with disabilities
Provide services in the least restrictive environment
Support families of students with disabilities through the process
Work with the parent community to maintain a collaborative relationship in order to meet the needs of students with disabilities
Stoneham Special Education Parent Advisory Council (SSPED-PAC)
The SSPED- PAC is a parent organization that provides information to parents on behalf of the children in special education programs. This includes special needs children educated within the Stoneham Public Schools and those in out-of-district placements.
The SSPED-PAC meets regularly with the Stoneham school administration to ensure parental input in curriculum, policy, budget, and other issues.
