Spring is officially here and has started off perfectly with this weekend's weather.  It is a welcome change and certainly adds to the optimism of more social openness and return to normal patterns and events in our collective society.

Each week seems to bring more news for schools returning to full in person learning and associated events and activities , of increased vaccination opportunities and of changes in COVID safety guidelines which seem to move further towards normalcy.  Combined with the warmer weather, these changes with our response to the current  pandemic  conditions  can easily make us drop our guard.  Now is not the time as the consequences of dropping our guard impact us all.

This past week Forty two (42) students were quarantined as a result of contact tracing from seven (7) positive COVID  cases.  This also led to eleven (11) teachers being quarantined.  These quarantines are for many days and have a significant impact on student learning, school activities and our ability to adequately and safely staff our needs.

This past week should serve as a strong reminder that we still need to be strong, focused and diligent with adherence to COVID safety guidelines.  Now is not the time  to jump ahead with all the recent news and the natural inklings to gather, especially with the warmer weather.  Stay strong!  If we break down now learning and school events will be impacted.

COVID is still very much a part of our reality and maintaining a safe learning environment remains a top priority at SHS.  The more we do our part the more we are able to continue to deliver an ever improving learning environment for a positive and successful completion of the 2020-2021 school year.

Go Spartans!  Mask up, socially distance, wash up and follow stated gathering guidelines!

The more you do, the more we can do at SHS!
