Principal's Message 3/28/21

Hello April

Hello April

Printer Friendly Version

I hope this message finds you well, and as I write this and look out the window, also dry.

Much is going on as we close out March and head into April.   We will continue to share new information and updates with regard to a full return to in person learning, Senior Events and other school activities as they are updated and / or determined.

Students should continue to actively attend and engage their courses and teachers, seeking out help and support as needed.  Diligence with COVID Safety Requirements is paramount as we enter April and prepare for a full return by the end of the month and beginning of May.  The stronger we are with our safety the more we can provide for in person learning and school activities.

Have a great week!  Go Spartans!

COVID Safety Updates

1.       No coffee / drinks / food are permitted in classrooms.

As stated last week, with the increase of vaccinations, opening up of school, work  and social restrictions and warm weather it is easy to think things are getting back to normal and easy to let down our diligence with continued safety precautions.  With this in mind this is a reminder that during our current conditions No coffee / drinks / food are permitted in classrooms.

If a student requires water then they should discuss with their teacher and work within classroom expectations and safety requirements.  However, adding food, coffee and other beverages only add an unneeded potential to put others at risk as these would require removing masks.

Food is to be eaten in the Cafeteria or alternative areas when directed.

Please note that this policy is, as are all of our related COVID safety policies,  aimed at supporting and maintaining a safe learning environment that most supports our ability to maintain in person learning and extracurricular events and activities.

2.       Many allergy symptoms are on the COVID-19 Daily Self Checklist

·         Now is the time to contact your child’s pediatrician.

·         Come up with a plan to handle your child’s allergy symptoms:

o    Daily medication

o    Nasal

o    Sprays

o    Eye drops

o    etc.

·         It is possible to have Covid-19 and other health conditions at the same time.

·         Please review the Covid-19 symptom checklist every day before you bring your child to school.

o    COVID-19 Daily Self Checklist

·         Call or email us before sending your child to school with any symptoms on this list.

Senior / Class of 2021 Senior Activities and Graduation Information

1.    Meetings with Senior Class Officers, the Senior Class Advisor Administration are ongoing in the planning for Senior Events.  There are many great ideas and creativity as we plan traditional events with non-traditional challenges and circumstances.  Student feedback is essential and we ask that all seniors continue to provide their class officers input with polls and surveys they issue to help with important decisions.

·         A survey will be sent this evening to all Seniors to complete (Students and SPS email addresses only).

o    Parents please speak with your Senior and ask them to complete the survey.

o    We are seeking their input regarding attendance at Prom and the Senior Family Picnic.

o    These preliminary attendance numbers are required as we plan events and consider providers to contract for services.

·         Stay tuned for further information

New High School Building Process

FYI:  Over the next two weeks Survey Crews associated with the Design Team for the new High School Building Project will be on school grounds.  You may see survey crews or cordoned off areas as they do their preliminary surveying and other testing related to the current phase of the new building project.  This should not cause any disruption to school related activities or any student pick up or drop off.
