Hello,
The second academic quarter of the year begins after a busy weekend for SHS Athletics with first round advances for our Football and Boys and Girls Soccer teams. Congratulations and continued success in the next round. A big thank you to our Volleyball Team who concluded a successful season after a positive representation of SHS in a first round tournament loss.
The next month will bring us MIAA State Tournament athletic games, Spirit Week, Spartan Day, the start of Winter Sports and to start December, our Fall Production of James and The Giant Peach. Add into this Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving Break and you have a shortened month of school days with many activities that need to be balanced with student’s academic work and engagement in their learning. To best enjoy the many upcoming activities, as well as other planned SHS Club events and FLEX enrichments, students are strongly encouraged to thoughtfully and strategically schedule academic support with their teachers and to make effective use of the FLEX block to support their learning and a strong second quarter.

Driving / Drop Off & Pick Up

In support of maintaining an orderly and safe student drop off and pick up system we ask all parents and guardians to follow the established traffic routes and adhere to the following. · Please do not stop and drop off along the route until you reach a space on the front sidewalk. · Please do not cut across open parking spaces to jump ahead of any line. These considerations reduce distractions and elements of surprise during a time of high traffic with both cars and student foot traffic. |
Parent / Guardian / Teacher Conferences

Five minute Parent-Teacher Conferences will occur on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 5:00pm - 8:00pm with both in-person and remote options. · Each conference will be for 5 minutes with a scheduled 2 minute transition between all meetings. · The number of appointments you may make is not limited, but only 1 per teacher. · Teachers will let you into the meeting upon the scheduled start time. · Parents / guardians will schedule their conferences through SignUp Genius. · We will release the SignUp Genius link and directions for registration within the next two weeks. |
Health and Wellness Committee

Stoneham Schools Wellness Committee is looking for parent and community member representation. · This committee will be meeting this year Nov 15, 2021, Dec 6 2021, Jan 10th, Feb 7th, March 7th, April 11th (if needed), and May 16th (if needed). · All meetings run from 3:15PM-4:15PM. · Meetings this year will take place with an in-person and virtual option. Stoneham High is collecting Thanksgiving food items to be donated to the local food pantry. If you are interested in donating, there is a box located in the front lobby of the high school. Items must be donated by Nov. 10th. Needed items: Flour Sugar Vanilla Condiments and Dressing Baking Powder and soda Gravy Vegetable oil Jellies/Jams Stuffing mix Canned fruit for pies Cranberry Sauce Jiffy pie crust Cocoa Mix Packets/Boxes of mashed potatoes Canned goods: green beans, corn |
