Good evening,

I hope you have had an enjoyable weekend.  The weather is beginning to warm and feel a bit Spring-like.  Spring sports are just around the corner and the melt is on.

But, first a few end of Winter Season activities as our Boys and Girls Varsity Hockey Teams continue this week with MIAA Tournament competition.  Game locations, times and ticket purchasing information can be found below.  Good Luck to our teams…Go Spartans!

A big shout out to our Theatre Program as our Drama Club just completed their production of “The internet is a distract..oh look a kitten!” It was a wonderful performance from the stage sets, lights, and sound to the acting, singing, and dancing.  Our students delivered a fun and contemporary production showcasing the amazing talent we have at SHS.  Bravo!!

Many fun and exciting things are happening at SHS and many more to follow before the end of the year.  Please see our School Calendar for upcoming events.

It is a busy time and one that requires students to utilize their skills of focus, time management, prioritization of responsibilities and expectations and communication.  Parents and guardians should continue to regularly check their students PS account for academic progress and contact their students' teachers directly with any questions or concerns.  Students should make consistent and effective use of FLEX block opportunities to support their learning and academic progress as well as actively engage with their teachers for support.

Have a great week!

Best,

Bryan Lombardi

Morning Drop off / Afternoon Pick up

As we know, morning drop off and afternoon pick up for students is a congested time with limited options.  We have established a traffic route that we feel is most safe and efficient for students and drivers.  We ask that all drivers support these routes and follow the established flow of traffic.

Please do not seek to find short cuts or your own “alternative” to circumnavigate our established routes.  In doing so you only add to the congestion, create confusion and frustration with other drivers and risk the safety of others.

Please follow our established routes, let’s role model for our students.  Thank you for your support.

New Academic Schedule / 2022 - 2023

The School Committee recently accepted our proposal for a  new Academic Schedule for Stoneham High School.  This schedule will go into effect for the 2022-2023 school year.

The new schedule will go from a rotating 5 day schedule to a rotating two day schedule.  The schedule will allow for a schedule build process that optimizes student course selections.  Other highlights include an easy to follow two day course rotation, daily flex, and adjusted class times.  We believe that this schedule will best support students' educational opportunities and academic learning and skill development.

Here is a copy of the new academic schedule:  New SHS Academic Schedule

Carnival Ball 2022

Carnival Ball performances will be on April 29th and 30th.  The theme of Carnival Ball 2022 is “On the Red Carpet.” Classes will perform skits related to Grammy Awards, Tony Awards, Academy Awards, or any other Hollywood related events.

The April 29th show will be held for students only during FLEX block.

The April 30th show will be for students, families, friends, and community members; the show will start promptly at 6:30PM.

Carnival Ball will be structured differently this year.  Classes will  compete against each other to see who is the champion of Carnival Ball.  Skits will be judged by a teacher panel based on: percentage of students involved, creativity, and execution.

In addition to class acts, students can try out to perform (dance, singing, instrumental routines) [and/or] help to introduce acts/performances to the red carpet.

Tryouts will take place on March 18th during FLEX in the auditorium.

Historically, students involved have “dressed to impress,” students are encouraged to wear “red carpet” attire or whatever they are most comfortable in for it.

We want to ensure inclusivity and positivity; this is about the SHS community.
