I hope you have thus far had a good Summer. As we enter August I am reminded that though there is still much Summer left to be enjoyed, the start of school is just around the corner. Here are some reminders as well as updates and new information to help you transition to a successful start of the 2023 - 2024 school year.

Class Orientations
Grade 9, 10 & 11: The Grade 9, 10 and 11 Class Orientations will be held in the SHS Auditorium. All student drivers should park in the designated student parking area as marked with white painted parking spots.

2023 - 2024 Academic Schedules
Student academic schedules for the 2023 - 2024 school year will be available on PowerSchool on Monday, August 14.
Student Academic Schedule / Course Changes / School Counselor
The process of creating an academic schedule for all students and teachers is complex and is primarily based upon the course selections of students. Therefore, course changes are not permitted unless due to an incomplete schedule, missing graduation requirement, out of sequence courses, misplaced course level or extenuating circumstances as determined and approved by the student’s school counselor, teacher, Academic Supervisor and Administration.
If you notice that you are missing any classes (seven courses per Semester in some combination of yearlong and /or half year long courses), courses are out of sequence (Spanish IV before Spanish III for example) or are concerned with course level placement please contact your School Counselor. School Counselors report back to school the week of 8/22.

Preparation 1st Day of School
● The first day of school: Wednesday, August 30.
○ 1st day is a Day 1 of our Academic Schedule
● School start time is 8:15AM
● Night before
○ Review your course schedule for the day
○ Review the Daily Class Schedule, see above, and locate which lunch you will have
○ Charge your chrome book so that you have a fully charged device
○ Prepare backpack and any needed school supplies
SHS Driving and Student Parking Update
The parking lot is still under construction as you read this message. It is expected to be paved and lined for the first day of Fall Sports registration paperwork days on August 17. I will send out further parking lot and travel routes once I receive further details.
Regardless of any new travel routes or signage, the primary message for all student drivers and parent / caregiver drivers is to be aware, cautious and patient when driving on school grounds and to follow the posted signs for travel routes and student pick / up drop off. Travel speed should be no more than 15 miles per hour.
If you find yourself cutting across the parking lot, driving over 15 MPH or not following the posted routes then YOU, are “THAT PERSON,” who is being selfish and inconsiderate to the safety of others. Safety, whether school based or in the parking lot, requires all of us; how we drive on campus, in a tight and congested space, is part of establishing a safe environment. Please do your part! We thank you for your support and attention to this matter.
As of Tuesday, 8/2, we have eighty two (82) Seniors and twenty (20) Juniors who have submitted parking applications for the one hundred and sixty six (166) available student parking spaces. There are sixty four (64) student parking spaces available for the 2023 - 2024 school year.

Student Pictures / Picture Day
● Student picture day is scheduled for Friday, October 13.
○ Retake day is Tuesday, November 21
● Picture options and ordering information will be provided to you over the next few weeks
● Legacy Studios is seeking parent volunteers to help on Student Picture Day. Volunteers will receive a free UC package or a 50% discount off a Senior Package. If interested please contact Legacy Studios; Beth McGrath; mcgrath.beth@legacystudios.com
