Dear Stoneham High School Families,
We have had a nice December thus far at SHS! Thank you to all who supported our Winter Concert last Wednesday evening, and to all who supported our winter athletic teams as they began their seasons last week. Thanks to those who donated to the “Socks for Seniors” Drive, we collected dozens of pairs of socks for seniors in our community. The Peer Leaders are busy gathering gifts for families in the Stoneham Community. Last Wednesday morning, Stoneham was officially approved to enter the eligibility stage of a building project by the Massachusetts School Building Authority. This means we may begin the process of planning how to proceed with seeking support for a new high school building. I will update families periodically as we proceed through the process.
Parents and guardians, please check you student’s second quarter progress in PowerSchool this week if you have not looked recently.
On Thursday, December 20, the King, Queen and Royal Court of Carnival Ball will be announced at 6:00 pm on the SHS Website.
Preschool registration for the 2019-2020 school year is now open! You can find the registration form on the district website or by following the link below. Please note that registration packets should be returned by January 4, 2019. Registration packets received after January 4, 2019 will be acted upon on a rolling basis, if there are openings. Returning students should use the returning student registration form, which was sent to you via email. The form is also available through your child's teachers. Kindly return by January 4, 2019.
The SHS Student Handbook has been updated recently and is available online under the “Parent Resources” on the SHS website, which may be found at www.stonehamschools.org. The handbook is available in print in the SHS Office. Please be advised that this revised handbook includes updates/revisions to the school code of conduct.
SHS students will be dismissed at noon on Friday, December 21. Classes resume on Wednesday, January 2. The SHS Office will be closed December 24, 25 and January 1.
